I think Robin is right always going to have Renefreds. Stop giving them space in your head. You know your book was a winner and so did the other readers who gave it 5 stars. I certainly didn’t think you were promoting any gender ideology!
Wow. Where to begin. There are always Renefreds. They are toxic to authors because books live with good reviews. Algorithms created by the book distributors decide where the book ranks. It is also amazing as one-star reviews live in the psyche of an author. Releasing a book is like giving birth. I remember a particular one star review i received, the claimed they put it down after the first fifteen pages because there was too much sex. The first scene was in page 30. Clearly, the reviewer was talking about a different book. I also don't see your reaction as jarring/ You're not a SEAL here. You're an author.
The reviewer was plain wrong. You do not pretend to be anything other than the man you are. You are not spouting psycho-babble, you are speaking from your heart and mind based on what you have seen, learned and felt. Your book revolves around parenting capable human beings. I already lent my copy out to someone who would never buy but could really use it. I'm glad you had the laugh.

Almost spit out my coffee…! My children are all grown, but sounds like a great book. Don’t let the Renfred’s of the world drag you down.
